Last night saw a bout of insomnia so naturally I put the time to good use and decided to stitch away until my eyes finally began to close. Anne Boleyn’s hood is made of french knots, which I think is awesomely quirky considering she spent a lot of time in France and became the spreader of the French hood being a fashion at Tudor court. As we all know, she was supposedly having illicit affairs (including an incestuous one with her brother) but in reality is far more likely that she wasn’t fulfilling her ‘role’ as providing a male heir and also fell victim to an almost labotomised Henry after a jousting accident. So, off to the block she went leaving behind her almost 3 year old daughter, the future Queen Elizabeth I, as well as her dear departed head…

That’s a lovely back-stitch alphabet for their names! And have fun with all those french knots- I know I wouldn’t!
hehe I never used to but have developed a love of them now. More so the after effect than the actual stitching of them though I must admit 🙂
Those are lovely neat French knots. I like Anne Boleyn – such a shame she was just a pawn in the hands of men with far more power than she could ever have…
I like her too, have always seen her of one of the many figures in history that have been shunned by propaganda idle gossip. It’s a shame that it still happens even today really…
Wow that is a lot of knots .. It is looking fantastic!
Thank you very much, I appreciate it 🙂
