This is my boomstick!

This was from a couple of weeks ago now but better late than never, eh? It was our Bruce Campbell lover friend’s birthday so a blood splattered film quote from Evil dead seemed fitting.  It is all cross stitched apart from the back stitch lining and frame and the already embossed white card made the red inking in of ‘blood’ a lot more simple, although very time consuming! Unfortunately, I can’t remember where I found the pattern from as I saw it a loooong time ago and stored it away knowing I would use it for her birthday (as well as just having a sieve memory) 🙂

Everything is awesome!

lego[1] lego2[1]

Sorry about the title, anybody who has seen the Lego Movie will tell you how annoyingly catchy that song is, but I couldn’t resist it. Being as I have 4 siblings, it is my only brother’s birthday coming up. I racked my tiny little mind trying to think of a theme for his card and got pretty stuck. I feel like a bad sister for saying that I had no idea what he would like. He is always at work and when not, he is looking after my nephew so doesnt really have time for hobbies as such. So I had to rewind my brain to times of old… what would a young Simon be interested in? Lego was the answer, I remember many times standing on one of his little bricks and cursing him somewhat for it! So, after finding a pattern on pinterest, I cross stitched the man, backstitching around him and adding ‘Pi’ to his chest, which has been my brothers nickname for years. I added a simple border in two different shades of blue, and framed it with large triangular blue and yellow buttons and small diamontes of the same colours. I hope it reminds him of times gone by and doesnt make him feel old. At 24, he should be a long way off from feeling that way. Might make him feel nostalgic and get the little toe crunchers out again 🙂

Chairman Meow

cat_card[1]

As I have mentioned in an earlier post, I always try and make something for my aunty on Mother’s day as she doesn’t have her own children and quite frankly, she is like a second mum to me. I have already made her gift and completed this card for her earlier on today. It is an understatement to say she loves her pet cat, so chairman meow seemed the way to go. I created the shape using felt and stitched around the edge to make it neater. Then added eyes made of felt and two single wooden black beads for pupils. The nose was a large pink bead with the rest of the mouth stitched on. I added gold thread for the whiskers and a lime green button to match the background on the tummy. A really enjoyable card to make, nice and simple and I didn’t even get stressy with the metallic thread. Win 🙂
